
There are three Russian cultural festivals on the calendar in September. The first will be on Saturday, Sept. 9 from noon to 7 p.m. at
Penn's Landing in Philadelphia. The Russian Mosaic Cultural Festival, organized by the Philadelphia Russian-American Chamber of Commerce, features folk, classical, and ballroom dance performances, and Russian, Jewish, Georgian, Moldavian and Middle Asian food.
If you're in Silicon Valley on Saturday, Sept. 22, try the Russian festival at
St. Nicholas Orthodox Church in Saratoga, Calif. It's $3 for adults and $1 for children and seniors $1. For more information, call (408) 867-0628.
The final fair will be back on the other coast a bit later in the month. On Saturday, Sept. 29, the
McClean Community Center in McClean, Va., will highlight Russian culture, arts and crafts, traditions, food and music, including a performance by the Balalaika Orchestra.

On Tuesday, Sept. 4 at 8 p.m. the Moscow Sretensky Monastery Choir, a 42-member male a capella chorus performs at New York City's
Avery Fisher Hall. The choir has a second U.S. concert at the
Chicago Symphony Center on Sunday, Sept. 9 at 7 p.m. The CSO will perform Tchaikovsky's final work, the Symphony No. 6 (
Pathétique) on Wednesday, Sept. 19 at 6:30 p.m. The Monastery Choir will also be at the Coolidge Auditorium of the
Library of Congress in Washington, D.C. on Wednesday, Sept. 12 at 8 p.m.
The Dallas Symphony Orchestra has two programs of Russian music in September. First up is the
Tchaikovsky Symphony No. 2, in performance from September 6 to 9.
Rachmaninoff's Paganini Rhapsody , will be performed from September 13 to 16.
A new discovery for those of you in the LA area: Russian-born singer Marina V. She'll be performing at the
Hotel Café on Monday, Sept. 10 at 8 p.m. You can listen to her sing by clicking on the audio controls on the top right of
this page.
On Friday Sept. 28 at 7 p.m. the
International House of Philadelphia will screen "The Music Lovers", a 1970 Ken Russell film about Tchaikovsky with Richard Chamberlain in the title role.
