Here's what's going on in my household these days...
Little J is doing super on his medication for ADHD, although I think something went awry with his dose at school yesterday because it was like a flashback to pre-meds last night. I will be wuite relieved when he goes to longer-acting meds. He has a dramatic and unpleasant reaction when they start to wear off and I'd like to spare him that if at all possible. He's going for his 4-year-old check-up this morning and then will have a fun day with Mommy! I'm excited. We have a favorite place to eat (the Wholefoods prepared food section) which we'll visit, then we'll go to the playground across the street. He is always a sweetheart on our "dates."
Big J is doing fine in 2nd grade. He is a smart boy and he's working hard making new friends at his new school - we just have to get him to remember their names so we can invite them over for a playdate! He's noticed the change in his brother, too, and they've been playing a lot more together.

I am giving an adoption storytime and
booksigning this weekend at
Park Road Books in Charlotte, NC, if any of you will be in the area (it's at 11 a.m.). I am hoping to meet a lot of the western NC families created by Russian adoption. Afterwards we're going to the
Discovery Place in Charlotte and then on to King's Mountain, where we'll go hiking! A great weekend away - we really need it. Plus, I was lucky enough to find a short-term housesitter to take care of the needs of Buddy, the diabetic, ancient cat...
My husband is doing fine. He's pondering what to do with his life, but what else is new! He's still yet to come around to the idea of adopting another...but I think we can wear him down. There's plenty of time...
