I have heard something about this before, and it has me worried. Our daughter (from China at 5, not Russia) has all the markers for FAE. I esp. notice this as we homeschool her and 2 sons. She is now 13y10m but functioning rather younger in various areas.

Anyway, a number of years ago (can't recall how old she was) I was dispensing cough medicines. My sons could barely stand the one that had alcohol in it (not sure what %), but she rather liked the taste !! Since then they have taken those off the market.

Well, this year a very nice lady from whom we got our dog gave us a holiday giftbag with some cookies and a bottle of champagne. I was looking forward to popping it open at New Year's and giving everyone a taste of the bubbly -- but not sure if it would be wise? Generally we are a non-drinking household, but I want my kids to have just a taste of these things as they are growing up. I don't want them to be clueless in a fine dining setting later in life.

Do I dis-include Joy from the bubbly experience, or re-gift it to some other nice family?
