Adoption is a private journey that can sometimes find its way into public forums. I write often in this blog about my trips to Russia to adopt my two sons and their lives since they have come to live in America.

And just about every day of every week, I read what many of you have gone through and are going through to welcome children born in Russia into your homes. Through your writings, I travel to parts of Russia I have never seen and experience adoptions that went both more and less smoothly than my own. In reading the writings of those of you already home with your families, I've been able to view the development of my own children in a new light.

But it has come to my attention that I may have inadvertently been a bit rude in my reading. A bit like that person you run into in the big bookstores who doesn't buy the books but just sits between the stacks day after day reading: I haven't properly and personally introduced myself to you, and I haven't asked your permission before I told others about your writing.

To some of you, that may not matter. You view the Internet as an open marketplace in which you will exchange ideas with many strangers. But others of you are writing blogs for friends and family only, and if I have intruded on your privacy by quoting from your blogs, please accept my apologies.

And so, in an attempt to be polite and to focus my reading--and the reading of the people who read my blog--on the blogs that want to be read by the broader public, I am starting a new blogroll of families adopting from Russia, or who have completed adoptions in that country. If you are open to letting me read your blog but want to remain anonymous to the rest of my readers, send me an e-mail with the subject line "Blogroll private". I'll treat the blogs in this group like the off-the-record interviews I do for my other work: I'll read your blog for information, but will never cite it directly.
